In-House Perspective: Employment Law and Litigation Management

This informative presentation will provide an inside look into the practice of in-house counsel. It will give new lawyers a chance to learn how the general counsel department fits into the corporate structure of a company and how in-house counsel handle common internal employment law issues and manage litigation when it arises. Ms. Esckilsen will provide a snapshot of several employment law issues that commonly arise in a corporate environment including performance management, compensation, hiring issues, policies/procedures, and acquisitions and divestitures. She will also address how in-house counsel manage litigation including the selection of outside counsel, insurance matters, reporting obligations, and how to manage expectations and balance the pros and cons of pursuing settlement versus litigating a matter.
