Other Section Accomplishments
The Section also established a virtual pro bono clinic this year. The clinic is designed to help individuals in need in our community who have simple I-90 (greencard renewal), I-130 (petition for relative), and N-600 (certificate of citizenship). Individuals need to meet income requirements and the clinic matches them up with an attorneys and a law student.
The clinic is in the process of creating a roster of volunteer attorneys to meet the demands of the community. The section’s pro bono committee is working to address this issue. We have hosted trainings for lawyers and will continue to do so. We are also working on an initiative to reach out to larger law firms to meet our needs.
More information can be found on the section webpage at the MSBA.
I want to thank everyone for their hard work this year. I had the pleasure to work with great people both at the MSBA office, on the pro bono committee and on my executive committee and council. I wish them the best in the coming year.
