The Advocacy Support Committee Calls for Mentors
As Elder Law attorneys, we are increasingly called upon to advocate for our clients in difficult contested matters. These issues often arise in the context of restrictive government policies, family disputes, elder abuse and exploitation, and a host of other contested matters. In response to this trend, the Elder Law Section recently formed the Advocacy Support Committee to explore ways in which the Section may assist its members as they navigate through difficult advocacy issues.
One way in which the Committee believes Section members can contribute is by sharing their knowledge and experience with other attorneys who are facing contested issues, particularly helping pro bono attorneys by lending some wisdom. The Committee hopes to compile a database of Elder Law advocacy “mentors” who are willing to volunteer 30 minutes of their time and share their invaluable practical knowledge with other attorneys. We are not requesting attorneys to assist with or take on a pro bono case, but recognizing that those who are taking pro bono cases or have committed to represent clients would find your knowledge invaluable.

The Medical Assistance Committee is a study group to analyze Elder Law Section member questions and case studies and to discuss administrative policies and procedures in relation to Medical Assistance in Minnesota.
