The MSBA's Construction Law Section Presents
"Federal and State Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Programs in Government Construction Projects: What They Require and How to Comply"
Due to the economy, many contractors are performing more government construction work, which often requires contractors to comply with affirmative action programs such as the federal Disadvantaged Business Enterprise program. Enforcement of DBE programs is on the rise. Many contractors have been relying on understandings with state agencies or local practice rather than strictly following the DBE program regulations - leaving themselves open to claims for contract damages, False Claims Act allegations and/or debarment. This program will provide an overview of the federal DBE program and Minnesota targeted business programs, and will review compliance requirements and recent developments.
