The MSBA's Computer & Technology Law Section Presents
Bilski – Finally!!!
A Recap of the Supreme Court’s Decision in Bilski v. Kappos and What It Means for the Future of Software-Related and E-Commerce Patents
TOPIC: In this presentation we will discuss the Supreme Court’s decision in Bilski v. Kappos. The presentation will walk through the decision and highlight the key language from the high court, both what it said and – perhaps as important – what it did not say. Then, we will discuss the decision’s practical effect on both existing and new patent applications, particularly in the areas of software and electronic commerce, as well as the extent to which the decision aligns subject matter eligibility in U.S. patent law with the European approach to technology requirements for patentable inventions.
The presentation will be given by Chris Evans and Dan Tysver of Beck & Tysver PLLC and Chris Hilberg of Oppenheimer Wolff & Donnelly LLP.
BRING: A bag lunch, questions, and good ideas. We will supply the bottled water and soda.
