The MSBA's Communications Law Section Presents
"Social Media and Lawyer Ethics - The Medium is Not the Message"
Communicating by social media is a popular new trend. Online interactions may be based on new technologies, but are still governed by existing ethical rules. This interactive course will touch on several of the many Minnesota Rules of Professional Conduct implicated by social media use. A few topics that will be covered are: lawyer and law firm websites, creation of inadvertent client relationships, effective disclaimers, social media use by attorney support staff, use of LinkedIn recommendations, keeping client confidences online, and using social media for informal investigations. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions as well.
