Presenter:
Professor David R. Stras, Associate Professor and Co-Director Institute for Law and Politics - University of Minnesota Law School
Of Counsel, Faegre & Benson LLP
Please join us for our quarterly lunch, designed specifically to address the interests and needs of Appellate Law practitioners.
Professor Stras, an expert on the Supreme Court and contributor to SCOTUSblog.com, will preview the upcoming Supreme Court Term, which includes cases that will consider the constitutionality of campaign finance laws, the scope of separation of powers and the powers of the Executive Branch, and whether the Eighth Amendment prohibits a sentence of life without the possibility of parole for juvenile, non-homicide offenders. Professor Stras will also spend some time talking about the Court’s newest member, Justice Sonia Sotomayor, and evaluating the Supreme Court’s certiorari and plenary dockets. Get the inside track of the 2009 Term, including a look at several cases and issues that the Court may adjudicate later this Term.
1.0 hour of Standard CLE credit to be applied for
