The MSBA's Alternative Dispute Resolution Section Presents
"Court-Connected Mediation and Minorities – Has Any Progress Been Made?"
Critical race theorists have raised important concerns about ADR in general and mediation specifically in terms of the impact they have had on minorities. Most of the major critiques, however, were written prior to the ascendency of court-connected mediation programs. Given the significance of these programs on the resolution of disputes, it is time to re-examine the issues which have been raised and consider whether progress has made and what still remains to be done. Sharon Press will present her research and comments on these important topics.
