The MSBA's ADR Section Presents
"ADR in Special Education: How to Build Trust in a Mediation System when Distrust Abounds"Minnesota's Special Education Mediation Service (MNSEMS) provides services for parents and school district teams who disagree about a student's education plan. Through program evaluations, MNSEMS finds distrust and miscommunication contribute to the conflict and the request for mediation. The program coordinator explains how conflicts reach the state system and how case development and mediation preparation supports the role of the mediators who have assisted parties in resolving their conflicts in 91% of the cases last year.
