The MSBA's Administrative Law and Military & Veterans Affairs Sections Present
"How to Navigate the Minnesota Veterans Preference Act"
One of the biggest challenges our returning veterans face is a state with the one of the highest unemployment rates for veterans in the country. One tool to help a veteran get a job in Minnesota is the Veterans Preference Act. The Act helps a veteran in getting hired for a government job as well as providing protections in termination. In 2010, Governor Pawlenty signed an Executive Order, which Governor Dayton has now extended, making it a priority for hiring veterans in state agencies. This CLE with take you through the Veterans Preference Act including the hiring and termination process. The presenters will give you the perspective of representing the veteran as well as the government agency.
